INSTINCTS OF THE HERD IN PEACE AND
WAR
Wilfred Trotter

Instincts of the Herd in Peace and War was an important study of
suggestibility and it was influential in the principle science of the
twentieth century, that is the unconscious manipulation of the mass of
humanity.

This is one of the books which helped form the Propaganda of Edward
Bernays, the man who renamed Propaganda 'P.R.' after it got a bad
name (in the course of discrediting German propaganda) during the
1914-18 great European war.

If you wish to think for yourself, you had better be aware of how people
are manipulating you. If you imagine that such manipulation is only
directed at others or that it is only effective on others, you are
mistaken.
